HSBC Alternative Investments
The division responsible for hedge funds, private equity and real estate offerings across the HSBC group has appointed Simon Jennings as managing director, head of private equity. Jennings has more than 22 years of private equity investment experience. Most recently, he co-founded and ran the private equity business at UBS Wealth Management, which provided private clients with access to 28 private equity offerings with assets under management of about £4bn.
City of London Law Society
Alasdair Douglas, former senior partner of Travers Smith, will succeed David McIntosh as chairman of the City of London Law Society, the representative body for the 14,000 solicitors working in the City and Canary Wharf.
The investment manager has appointed Julian Hince as technical development director. Hince joins from iShares, where he was director of UK intermediaries and third parties.
The HR consulting arm of Aon Corporation has appointed Peter Redhead as business leader for the north-west. Redhead joins from Jardine Lloyd Thompson, where he was deputy chairman of the employee benefits division.
Bluefin Corporate Consulting
The advisory subsidiary of AXA UK has appointed Giles Davis, formerly business development consultant at Xafinity Consulting, to its new business development team.
The law firm has appointed Alex Barnes as a property tax advisory partner. Barnes joins from Eversheds, where he was head of tax in the real estate department across the firm’s regional offices. He will offer support to businesses on property related tax issues such as capital allowances.
Hilary Stewart-Jones and Stephen Ketteley have been appointed as partners in the Intellectual Property & Technology group. Both lawyers join from Berwin Leighton Paisner, bringing gaming expertise to the media, sports and IPT teams.

The Swiss banking group has appointed Katia Coudray Cornu as head of SYZ Fund Research. Coudray Cornu previously worked at UBP in Geneva, where she was in charge of multi-management and manager selection.
